congratulatory letter to Olga Tokarczuk (video from December 9)
President Andrzej Duda sent a congratulatory letter to Olga Tokarczuk on
Tuesday. "I would like to express my delight that the Swedish Academy
has honoured Your work, in which universal truths and Polish sensitivity
complement each other so fine," President Duda wrote. Polish writer
will officially receive the award at the Nobel Prize award ceremony
which takes place in Konserthuset Stockholm, Sweden.

On Tuesday afternoon, Olga Tokarczuk, the fifth Polish laureate of the
Nobel Prize in literature will collect a diploma and a golden medal from
the hands of the King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf.
"Please accept words of appreciation and congratulations on being
awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. On the day of the award ceremony I
would like to express my delight that the Swedish Academy has honoured
your work, in which universal truths and Polish sensitivity complement
each other so fine. I am happy to know that your writing mastery, for a
long time appreciated by readers, critics and scholars, both at home and
abroad, has now been held in the highest esteem by the members of the
Nobel Committee," the president wrote in the letter published on
Twitter.
The president underscored that it's a huge personal achievement of the
Nobel laureate and "a wonderful success that will go down in the history
of Polish and world literature". "It's also a very compelling sign of
just how important and irreplaceable is the art of words, its power and
beauty," wrote President Duda.

Futhermore, Polish President wrote the Tokarczuk's books "address the
ancient - as old as culture itself - need to retell from the start the
fate of the world and individual man". "And maybe that is why they
attract the attention of the fine readers community, faithful and deeply
grateful," wrote Mr Duda.
This year's ceremony is to be conducted at a fast pace. This is due to
the record number of laureates - 14. The fifteenth laureate, the Nobel
Peace Prize recipient Abiy Ahmed, will collect his award also on
Tuesday, but in Oslo.
Following the award ceremony in the Concert Hall, the Nobel laureates,
royals and guests attend a glittery banquet in the City Hall.
During the banquet, this year's laureates will give short speeches. Olga
Tokarczuk is to be the fourth speaker.
